Police officers (including the chief of police), teachers, students, community leaders, fairies, princesses!
The shopping coaches were awesome! They served, inspired, encouraged, motivated and helped our children and their families in such incredible ways. They took their time. The many happy faces! The many touched hearts! Beautiful!
Everyone left feeling uplifted! We came together to make a difference, regardless of the color of our skin. It was beautiful!
I’m still reflecting on Monday, Janurary 16th 2017!
Something about that day has touched my heart in so many ways. Perhaps it’s because many of the children and families that we served and helped, I know their stories, I know what they’re going through and to see them smile and be happy
Every coach made it more than shopping for food and budgeting, they made each child feel special. They made them feel important. Love and kindness was shared.
Love and kindness was shared by many to many on Monday throughout our nation, a day when we celebrate not only the birth, but the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. His legacy.
Every family and child that arrived at Albertsons, I didn’t see the color of their skin. I saw hearts that needed to be touched. Families who needed to be fed. Fed not only with food, but with positivity and compassion.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
I’m still reflecting on Monday. It inspired and helped me and so many ways. I was reminded. Every family, every parent, every child, every coach, every customer during that time, every Albertson’s employee at that time, were all suppose to be there.
We were puzzle pieces but we came together and made a beautiful picture! It was great! It was amazing! Together we made a difference!

Over 100 Children in need will get a grocery food shopping spree to help their families!
Each child will receive $30 dollars to buy groceries, One $25 Albertsons Gift Card and a $5 dollar bill.
Each child will also receive a shopping list with items that must be purchased (cereal, pasta, canned goods, meats, fruits and vegetables, bread-any of their choosing, as long as it does not go over $30), along with a calculator, coupons and a healthy and inexpensive meal ideas and recipes.
Each child will be teamed up with a shopping coach who will help them shop and budget. It’s going to be great! It’s going to be amazing!
The purpose of this event is not to only provide children and their families with food but to also give them a lesson on budgeting and working together!
